My son and I have built countless Lego sets, will build countless more, and play with Lego on a near-daily basis. One of my favorite things to do with Lego has always been to make custom cars, built purely out of random bricks and my imagination. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw that Lego is launching a new video game in which I can not only build cars but race them—Lego 2K Drive. Lego partnered with 2K Games, hence the name of the game, to create what seems to be a mashup of [Mario Kart ]()and Forza Horizon, reimagined with Lego bricks. ![]() Like the[ Forza Horizon]() series, Lego 2K Drive is set in an open world, called Bricklandia. In Bricklandia, there are several different Biomes, which require players to win races and complete challenges to progress through. Like Mario Kart, there's quite a bit of offensive driving, with different powerup weapons that can be used to slow down your competition. However, Lego 2K Drive puts an incredibly unique twist on its racing by giving you car the ability to shapeshift. While driving on pavement, your car is a normal car. However, veer off the paved road, off the beaten path, and your car automatically turns into an all-terrain vehicle. Drive onto water and your car instantly transforms into a boat. And you also can customize your roster of vehicles, for street, dirt, and water, so they transform into the vehicles you choose. ![]() Speaking of customization, in addition to the normal Lego cars in the game, you can even customize your own cars using Lego bricks. There aren't many officially licensed real cars in the game, outside of a couple of [McLarens ]()(Solus GT and F1) but there is a hilariously named "Hamburghini." Though I wouldn't be surprised to see more licensed cars come as part of various DLC packs in the future. This game looks like my childhood imagination brought to the screen and seems like an absolute blast for both kids and parents alike.
