Williams Racing announced that[ Logan Sargeant](), the only American[ Formula 1]() driver last season, is getting his rookie contract extended into 2024. In his rookie 2023 season, Sargeant scored only one point but that lone point combined with his teammate Alex Albon's 27 points to give [Williams ]()a mid-pack finish in the constructors' championship. OK, so seventh place isn't exactly mid-pack but it's better than last place, which is where Williams sat at the end of the 2022 season, with just eight points. Sargeart won races in Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2, but the highest he placed in his rookie F1 season was 10th, which ironically came during the United States Grand Prix, in Austin, Texas. That tenth-place finish is what gave him his only point for the season. Last year, the two Williams cars earned a reputation for being difficult to pass in a straight line, due to running lower downforce, netting them higher top speeds. It will be interesting to see how Williams adjusts its aero strategy for 2024 and if the combination of Albon and Sargeant can score more points and put Williams in a position to compete for a championship. *Got tips?
