It's widely known you get a lot of bang for your buck when purchasing a [Dodge Challenger Hellcat](<https://www.thedrive.com/muscle-cars/4419/2016-dodge-challenger-srt-hellcat-instant-review>). Starting at $64,195 you get a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. However, the [Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack](<https://www.thedrive.com/muscle-cars/5365/the-dodge-challenger-392-hemi-scat-pack-shaker-isnt-here-to-make-friends>) starts at just $38,995 and has plenty of vroom, thanks to the 6.4-liter V8 jammed under the hood. Cranking out 485 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, the Scat Pack is no slouch at just $80.40 per horsepower, opposed to the Hellcat's $90.79 per horsepower. So the real question is: Can you get the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack up to Hellcat performance numbers, while spending less than the $25,200 difference between the two trims?

As long as you stick with minor engine modifications and primarily bolt-on parts, it is going to be extremely hard to hit that $25,200 ceiling. One YouTuber, Delano McFarlane, appears to have successfully made a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack comparable in quarter-mile times to the Hellcat ([11.7 seconds on street tires](<https://www.caranddriver.com/dodge/challenger-srt-srt-hellcat>)). According to the YouTuber's page, his Challenger is making 490 hp at the wheels and has achieved 11.2 seconds in the quarter mile on his best run.

According to a [past YouTube post](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntt8flhOqqs>), the proud Scat Pack owner has done the following modifications: "MMX 270 Cam, MMX CNC heads, Kook coated 1 7/8x3 headers, high flow kooks midpipes, 95mm hellcat throttle body, unlocked PCM, Diablo Trinity, K&N drop in filter, Hellcat lower airbox, upper CrankCase breather, Lower CrankCase breaker" as well as some suspension and wheel modifications.
