# Watch Volvo’s 2,400-HP “Iron Knight” Truck Race a Volvo S60 Polestar Race Car

We won’t lie—when Volvo pulled the proverbial wrapping off its custom-built speed truck dubbed “The Iron Knight” back in August, we we a little smitten. It’s [a fiberglass-bodied semi tractor with a quad-turbocharged 13.0-liter diesel engine that makes 2,400 horsepower and 4,425 pound-feet of torque](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/4908/this-2-400-hp-volvo-big-rig-could-be-the-worlds-fastest-truck>); launched from a dead stop, it can be a kilometer away in a little more than 21 seconds. It’s roughly the size of a small house, yet it goes from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds. How could we not love this thing?

Luckily for us, it seems Volvo wasn’t planning on putting [The Iron Knight out to pasture after a couple of world records](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/4983/watch-volvos-iron-knight-break-two-truck-world-speed-records>). In fact, the automaker seems intent on continuing to show off just what this massive truck is capable of doing. The proof? Well, this little video, in which [Volvo stacks the Iron Knight up against the company’s own S60 Polestar TC1 race car](<https://www.motortrend.com/news/watch-2800-hp-battle-volvo-s60-polestar-big-rig/>).

The truck-on-race car challenge pits the two Swedish speedsters against one another in a pair of challenges: a drag race, and a showdown on the circuit at Mantorp Park. The S60 Polestar TC1 is coming fresh off its [win in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Shanghai, China](<https://www.crash.net/wtcc/news/233932/1/bjork-claims-maiden-wtcc-win-for-volvo-polestar.html>); with 400 horses and 347 lb.-ft. flowing out of its turbocharged inline-four, it’s significantly down on power compared with its big cousin...but the Polestar also happens to benefit from significantly less mass to haul around, so it does the 0-to-62 dash in the exact same time.
