Ferrari is planning quite the celebration for its 70th anniversary, including a whole bunch of special edition sports cars—but la pièce de résistance of the carmaker’s anniversary celebration is LaFerrari Aperta. So to show off the latest version of the Ferrari special enough to be dubbed “The Ferrari,” Maranello whipped up a little video showing Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel taking the LaFerrari Aperta out for a drift.

Ferrari didn’t need any promotional hoopla to sell the open-top version of its 949-horsepower hybrid hypercar; all 200 examples of LaFerrari Aperta were spoken for before the car hit the Paris Motor Show floor. But Ferrari’s cars are as much about building mystique among those who can’t bring one home as it is about building life-altering sports cars for those with the means to drive them; in that light, dropping a few dimes on a fun video showcasing the company’s latest speed machine, its long history of memorable sports cars, and the current B.M.O.C. of its Formula One lineup makes all the sense in the world.

Granted, the resulting video isn’t perfect. It’s a little bit corny in spots—we love seeing vintage Ferraris as much as anyone, but do we really need computer generated recreations of them reflected in every conceivable shiny surface? And the pseudo-new wave soundtrack seems a little out of place, considering the historical weight the video is trying to place on LaFerrari’s broad shoulders.

But all those sins dissolve the moment Vettel and the LaFerrari Aperta hit the track at Spain’s Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. From there on out, the video is a free-for-all of screaming V12 engine notes, lurid hypercar powerslides, and the goofy grin of 29-year-old millionaire who knows he has the best job on the planet.
