# Paris Shocker: Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta Already Sold Out

We know that sarcasm can be a little tough to convey online, so if there’s any doubt in your mind, let us be straightforward: There is not one iota of surprise in our bodies to learn that the [Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta is already sold out as of its debut at the Paris Motor Show](<https://www.autonews.com/article/20160929/COPY01/309299888/ferrari-sells-out-open-top-aperta-before-public-debut>) this week.

After all, that’s what Ferrari’s limited-series models tend to do: Sell out instantaneously. [Only 209 copies of the LaFerrari Aperta will be made](<https://www.motortrend.com/news/ferrari-laferrari-aperta/>); nine of those will be used for the carmaker’s 70th anniversary celebration, while the other 200 have already been sold off to the carmaker’s best customers.

[Ferrari did use the Paris Motor Show to clear up a few vagaries about the LaFerrari Aperta](<https://blog.caranddriver.com/ferrari-laferrari-spider-now-you-see-it/>). As we mentioned when the car first broke cover back in July, [the Aperta uses the same 949-horsepower hybrid V12 powertrain as the LaFerrari coupe](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/4262/ferrari-laferrari-spider-revealed-will-be-called-laferrari-aperta>); Ferrari now says that top speed is unchanged for the al fresco version, according to *Car and Driver*. Owners can choose between a soft top or a carbon-fiber hardtop, but going topless doesn’t hurt the car in the wind tunnel; so long as the windows are up, the Aperta has the same coefficient of drag as the coupe.

Transforming the LaFerrari into an Aperta involved more than just pulling out the world’s biggest can opener. In addition to the aerodynamic tweaks needed to maintain the Cd, such as a pair of flaps atop the windshield, Ferrari altered the radiators and the vents so they shunt hot air out below the car instead of over the hood; the front spoiler has been embiggened; the front fender gains a new vent; and the graceful doors open at a slightly different angle, due to the change in the roof structure, according to *Motor Trend*.

Add it all up, and the LaFerrari Aperta should be the fastest topless car ever built by Ferrari. Well, if you discount all those ones you need a helmet to drive.
