Australia's Holden produced [its last car in October 2017](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/15336/holden-stops-production-in-australia-after-69-years>), but not before jamming the [Chevy Corvette ZR1's 635-horsepower LS9](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/20382/watch-the-2019-chevrolet-corvette-zr1-hit-almost-215-mph-in-top-speed-testing>) into the final generation Commodore's engine bay. The resulting [HVS GTSR W1 was one hell of a muscle sedan](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/7282/holdens-final-commodore-packs-the-corvette-zr1s-635-hp-v-8>), begging for Holden Special Vehicles to investigate the possibility of a ute version. Those experienced motorsport engineers down south heard that call and went on to build a total of four HSV GTSR W1 Maloo utes in 2017, for Holden's inner circle only.

Today, one of these unregistered muscle utes is up for grabs, with a *Light My Fire Orange* exterior and just 423 miles on the clock. [With 21 days to go](<https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetails.aspx?smode=0&aid=20712&lid=2611438>), the bidding war stands at the equivalent of $556,000 USD at the moment, plus the 7.5 percent buyers' premium. Not too shabby for a two-seater pickup, yet hardly surprising for a defunct brand's rarest collector car. Made in Australia with love, 635 horsepower and 601 pound-feet of torque.

To match the characteristics of the 6.2-liter V8 with its dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods and inlet valves, plus a massive twin four-lobe-rotor supercharger, HSV added Tremec's close-ratio TR-6060 six-speed manual, the adaptive SupaShock suspension system with 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, and AP Racing's six-piston monoblock calipers grabbing 410mm steel rotors up front.

As you'd expect from a halo ute, every other Commodore option is part of the package as well, from the eight-way electrically adjustable HSV Podium front seats finished in Alcantara with diamond-quilted stitching to other comfort features such as cruise control, a reverse camera and a bangin' stereo. To further reinforce its screaming LS9 V8 ethos, the badges, fender vents, airbox and Aeroflow Performance rear spoiler are all made of carbon fiber.

One of just four prototypes, this HSV GTSR W1 Maloo [even comes with](<https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetails.aspx?smode=0&aid=20712&lid=2611438>) the Vic plates "W1UTE," in case its new owner happens to live in the most southeastern state of Australia. Happy tire-smoking to all involved in this madness.
