# Hertz Rental Is Also Selling a Pair of Its Hendrick-Tuned 750-HP Chevy Camaro ZL1s

Yesterday, news emerged that The Hertz Corporation, owner of a vast fleet of cars nobody wants to rent anymore, has started to sell off [the fleet of yellow 650-horsepower 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06s](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/33533/struggling-hertz-rental-is-selling-a-fleet-of-cheap-650-hp-chevy-corvette-z06s>) it commissioned a couple of years ago to mark its 100th anniversary. Now, it's fair to wonder whether any price is cheap enough for a rental performance car with 30,000 hard miles on it. So maybe this is more your speed: first pointed out [by *Muscle Cars & Trucks*](<https://www.musclecarsandtrucks.com/hertz-selling-chevrolet-camaro-c7-corvette-rental-fleet-cars/>)*,* Hertz is *also* trying to [unload a pair of Callaway-tuned, 750-hp 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s](<https://www.hertzcarsales.com/used-cars-for-sale.htm?make=Chevrolet&model=Camaro&trim=ZL1&geoZip=10007&geoRadius=1000>) it announced last fall to great fanfare.

Stock, that car is no slouch. The ZL1 is a 650-hp/650 lb-ft supercharged monster with the same 6.2-liter LT4 V8 out of the Corvette Z06 and a 202-mph top speed. [We tested the convertible version last year](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/26438/2019-chevrolet-camaro-zl1-convertible-review-america-in-a-650-hp-drop-top-nutshell>) and found it to be one of the best good-time cars out there by a long shot, even in "I don't know how to shift!" automatic transmission guise (the manual is standard). It's not quite a scalpel—that's what the 1LE track pack is for—nor is it a blunt instrument of Detroit. It's a controllable riot in the same way the old overpowered rear-drive AMGs used to be.

But for some reason, [Hertz went a step further here than it did with the Corvettes](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/29910/hertz-will-rent-you-a-750-hp-chevrolet-camaro-zl1-tuned-by-nascars-hendrick-motorsports>), turning to Hendrick Motorsport for advice on how to liven it up even more. Hendrick came back with a larger Callaway supercharger to make the V8's output an even 750 hp. The car also sports unique wheels, #24 badging to represent Hendrick's NASCAR Cup Series car, driver William Byron's signature on the headrests and a black and yellow livery. Just 24 were built.

What's enticing here is the mileage—the photographed car only has about 3,300 miles on the odometer, while the one without photos has a mere 1,800. *Some* of those might have been spent at the redline in second gear, it's true. But even more so than yesterday's Z06s, there's a good chance the performance upgrades will make these a collectible worth some decent coin one day. Is it worth $77,000 right now when new ZL1s can be had in the high $60K range? Depends on how much you love William Byron.

If you want to experience the ZL1 without cracking open your 401K, Hertz appears to still be renting them in a few select cities. You've only got 75 miles a day, though.
