# Classic Cadillac Brougham Playing in the Dunes Is Here to Shame Your Lifted SUV

As that old video of [a stock Ford Crown Victoria conquering Moab](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHvXi_HejnI>) showed, [fancy rigs](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/15765/here-are-the-wildest-and-wackiest-jeep-wranglers-of-the-2017-sema-show>) are overkill for most off-roading scenarios, nevermind on-road use. And if you didn't believe it then, believe it now, because here's a video of a stock Cadillac sedan from the Malaise Era conquering sand dunes in the Middle East.

More Brougham than [bro-dozer](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/32017/watch-a-gmc-yukon-bro-dozer-on-tiny-wheels-do-a-gigantic-burnout>), this 1986 Cadillac's soft suspension and truck-like body-on-frame construction make it surprisingly suitable for use on loose surfaces, such as the sands of the deserts outside Dammam, Saudi Arabia, if [Twitter commenters'](<https://twitter.com/SaudiRetroCars/status/1242023773051723777>) video location is accurate. They identify the source of the video as Instagram account [@abo\_fe9al007](<https://www.instagram.com/abo_fe9al007/>), and the driver of the car as one Prince Nasser Nawaf, seemingly a member of the Saudi royal family. If the Instagram account—allegedly operated by a friend of the Prince's named Abu Faisal—is anything to go by, the Prince himself is quite a fan of off-roading, as you'd certainly hope from a car enthusiast living in a country with so much sand.

This well-to-do Saudi royal appears to have a taste for older General Motors products, as videos recently uploaded to his 'Gram show him beating the bejeezus out of a well-preserved GMC Sierra 1500 step-side from the 1990s. With most of the world practicing social distancing, a retreat into the desert for a bit of tomfoolery strikes us as—[unusually for Saudi royalty](<https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/25659/how-formula-e-racing-is-helping-saudi-arabia-push-a-false-message-of-reform>)—the socially responsible thing to do.

Better to hoon legally and burn some gas [while it's cheap](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/32649/kentucky-bp-station-with-0-99-gas-prices-sells-out-almost-immediately>), after all, than get up to [mischief like illegal street racing](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/32721/street-racing-is-rampant-on-torontos-newly-empty-highways>).
