# One-Off 1994 Ford Taurus SHO Pickup Conversion Is an Oddball Bargain at $7,500

Nowadays, just about every Ford truck comes with a decent amount of grunt under its hood. But if the Blue Oval's current selection of F-150 and [Ranger models](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/29736/next-generation-ford-ranger-could-get-v-6-and-diesel-options-report>) isn't unique enough to pique your interest, then this custom 1994 Taurus SHO pickup conversion hopefully is. Up for sale at [Harry’s Toy Barn in Beloit, Kansas](<https://www.autabuy.com/details/?VID=37835690&utm_source=Trovit&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=Premium&fbclid=IwAR0YUz12omv9dK-dtGS_rC3GsP1zpxilvLbUdaNO6WCpAzXL0Wizb0acnVY>) is a one-off, quasi-Ranchero remake for just $7,500.

Details from the description are quite limited, although one cliché rings true: pictures are worth a thousand words. Clearly, this oddball started life as a second-generation [Taurus](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/12879/ford-considers-killing-off-taurus-in-2018>) SHO before someone chopped off the sporty sedan's rear half from the B-pillar back. Then, they plopped on the bed from a Ranger of the same era.

Despite all the custom bodywork, which also appears to have gained some extra bracing on the underside, the [Taurus SHO](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/26725/after-34-years-ford-has-just-built-its-final-taurus-sedan>) pickup retains its go-fast engine. Since this example has the five-speed manual transmission, we'll assume it packs the tried-and-true 3.0-liter Yamaha V6. That variant made 220 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, a hair under the auto-only 3.2-liter's 215 pound-feet.

But the best part about this conversion is that it features the original five-speed manual versus the less desirable four-speed automatic transmission.

This particular “SHO Truck” made an appearance during the [spring 2016 Mecum auction in Kansas City](<https://www.mecum.com/lots/KA0316-235410/1994-ford-taurus-sho/>), where it sold for $4,500. With its current asking price of at Harry’s Toy Barn, it appears that the “rad tax” has hiked up the proposed value quite a bit. No worries, though, because whatever you're able to haggle the seller down to, you'll always have what is surely one of a kind.
