It's a far cry from its initial starting point of $41,669 and could compromise its competitiveness against upcoming electric pickup trucks. Of course, it depends on how the [2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV]() and [Ram 1500 Revolution]() are priced when they finally reach the market. The updated and increased dollar amounts are now live on the F-150 Lightning's [online configurator](). It remains to be seen if the Silverado EV will stick to [its promised $40,000 base price](), but if so, that's a big discrepancy. F-150 Lightning XLT trims will begin at a loftier $65,369, while big-battery models start at $82,869. That puts the long-range Lightning above the price of the Rivian R1T at $79,000. The top Platinum trim meanwhile reaches $99,969, putting it in the territory of the 2023 [GMC Hummer EV]() too. ![]() *2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat towing an Airstream trailer. *Ford** The F-150 Lightning launched as a [2022 model]() and has seen repeated increases over the course of just two model years. The [first came in August](), [then October](), then [again in December](), and now for a fourth time at the end of March. [Ford]() told *The Drive* that it attributes "current material costs, market factors, and supply chain constraints" for the latest uptick, following a multi-week production suspension. The stoppage came in February after [a Lightning battery caught fire]() during a pre-delivery quality check. Ford responded by pausing deliveries and orders while it recalled 18 trucks for full battery replacements. Orders, production, and deliveries have resumed for all trims but the base Pro model, which will still reportedly reopen in mid-April. Pricing for the F-150 Lightning may begin to decline again for 2024 models, which will [introduce an optional new LFP battery chemistry]().
