# Blacked-Out Subaru WRX STi Camera Car Being Used in Filming of Deadpool 2

The filming of *Deadpool 2* commenced in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia yesterday, and it looks like the crew is using an equally-unorthodox camera car to capture the foul-mouthed superhero—a blacked-out, blobeye Subaru WRX STi.

William Byrd of [*Right Foot Down*](<https://www.rightfootdown.com/>) spotted the WRX STi getting ready to film some [100% manly action scenes with Deadpool's famous red scooter motorbike](<https://i.ytimg.com/vi/DgYHh2K7jhI/maxresdefault.jpg>) in tow on a specialized trailer. Production crews have been known to look beyond the standard Mercedes ML-based camera rigs, turning to speed machines like [the Porsche Panamera Turbo](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkQA6FbPDO4>) or off-road specialists like the [Land Rover Defender](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B93k4uhpf7g>) when the situation calls for it.

And if you want a vehicle that emulates the maneuverability of a Vespa, well, [a Subaru WRX STi](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/11739/baby-driver-star-ansel-elgort-kept-an-old-subaru-wrx-used-in-filming>) is not a bad place to start. It appears this is a real-deal manual transmission STi, with added camera mounts and a tow hitch. It's not the first car that comes to mind [when you think of a towing rig,](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/12635/the-2017-ford-f-250-super-duty-diesel-cured-my-towing-nightmares>) but a quick trip to the forums yields [more than a few owner reports](<https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1292283>) of towing under 1,500 pounds without incident.

Elsewhere during the shoot, Byrd got a few snaps of a gigantic land-train of a semi-truck that was used in at least one ramming stunt during the day. It's always fun to see such detailed practical effects cruising down the street like any other car—whatever's powering that beast has no problem hauling the four trailers around.
