The Drive has been closely covering the redesigned 2018 Ford F-150 with its body redesign and engine changes. To refresh your memory, the 2018 Ford F-150 will come with either a 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, 5.0-liter V8 or 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel. All engines will have the option of using the 10-speed automatic transmission but will come standard with the 6-speed automatic (unsure about 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel's configuration). When customers select the 10-speed automatic transmission, they are able to toggle between five different driving modes; tow/haul, snow/wet, EcoSelect, and Sport. Each mode varies traction, shift changes and other dynamic options for optimal performance.

The configurator indicated the base 2018 Ford F-150 XL regular cab 4x2 will start at $27,380 and will come with a 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6. That is just $270 more than the outgoing 3.5-liter Ti-VCT F-150 XL. It is also worth noting the popular 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 will be getting a bump in torque from 375 lb-ft of torque to 400 lb-ft of torque. Just as a friendly reminder, that is 17 lb-ft of torque more than what you find in the Chevy Silverado with a 5.3-liter V8.

Pulling away from engine details and focusing more on new options in the configurator, The Drive was able to find a few but nothing too crazy. Customers can now order a new color called Magma Red which is somewhat of a mix between Race Red and Bronze Fire (no longer available). As far as the interior goes, the don't seem to be any real changes worth noting aside from pedestrian detection with auto-braking. But when we direct our attention to the exterior, we find a few little treats to make everyday life a little easier. Ford now offers stowable loading ramps that easily clip into the side of the bed for $595. Excluding the little options, Ford focused most of their options on connectivity, app integration and other bits of tech they felt would help keep a business running.

The Drive will keep you posted on any further developments but expect the 2018 Ford F-150 to hit the showroom floor in fall of 2017 and Spring 2018 for the diesel variant.
