2017 Shelby GT350 Offers The Sexiest Mustang Colors Yet

Three new colors and a simplified options list make the super-Mustang even sweeter.

Ford gave the Shelby GT350 and GT350R a few minor updates for the 2017 model year, which, normally, would barely be worth mentioning: a few old options made standard, a few other options consolidated. But the high-performance Mustang's sophomore-year spruce-up also adds three of the sexiest colors ever to grace a Ford: Lightning Blue, Grabber Blue, and Ruby Red Metallic.

As a result, the dead-sexy GT350 has become even sexier. Each of the three new colors brings a different type of panache to this pony car. Doesn't that Grabber Blue paint (that's the light blue one) seems to channel power and patriotism the way the Superman's costume does? Doesn't the russet skin of the Ruby Red Metallic car seem to smolder with dark fury? And doesn't the Lightning Blue color seem to channel the raw, seething power of the ocean itself? Sure, Ford had to ditch the Téa Leoni-beloved Deep Impact Blue and the tangerine-tastic Competition Orange colors in order to make room for the additions to the palette, but neither of those paints could compare to the gorgeous trio of Ruby, Lightning, and Grabber.

The rest of the 2017 updates for the maximum Mustang are designed to simplify the ordering process. The formerly-optional Track Package is now baked into the car, giving every GT350 standard magnetic ride dampers, a small spoiler, an aluminum tower-to-tower brace, and transmission, engine oil, and differential coolers. There are two new option packages that bundle together several handy features, too. The Electronics Package includes the SYNC 3 infotainment system with navigation and a nine-speaker stereo, while the Convenience Package combines all that together with power leather seats. (Base GT350 and GT350Rs make do with manually-operated Recaros.)

All in all, pretty standard stuff for a new model year update. But those colors, though. Those colors.
