# Dodge Challenger Demon Priced at $84,995

Dodge announced in a press release Tuesday that its drag-ready-yet-streetable, 840-horsepower Dodge Challenger will start at $84,995. That's the price you'll have to pay if you want the most unreasonably batshit, new, American production car on sale in 2017.

On top of the $85,000 sticker, a destination fee of $1,095 will be tacked on, and owners will also be asked to be $1 for each of the extra performance bits. The $1,700 gas guzzler tax is included in the MSRP.

Those additional "options," as Dodge calls them, include a front passenger seat, a rear seat, trunk carpet, and the $1 "Demon Crate." Here's what comes with that.

The car also comes with a factory warranty for three years or 36,000 miles for limited coverage, and a five-year, 60,000-mile warranty on its powertrain.

“We worked very hard to build as much value into the [Challenger SRT Demon](<https://www.thedrive.com/article/9218/the-dodge-challenger-demon-is-an-840-hp-street-legal-drag-car>) as possible – features, performance and exclusivity that simply can't be duplicated with a goal of maintaining, and possibly even growing, as much future value as possible," said FCA's passenger cars chief, Tim Kuniskis, in a press release.

The [Challenger Demon was unveiled](<https://www.thedrive.com/article/9218/the-dodge-challenger-demon-is-an-840-hp-street-legal-drag-car>) at the New York International Auto Show in April. It's a drag-race-ready street car that comes ready to push 840 hp from its supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine when using race fuel. At its unveiled, Dodge claimed that the car could run a 9.65-second quarter mile at 140 miles per hour and do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds—or [2.1 seconds if you're really good.](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/9536/the-dodge-challenger-demon-actually-does-0-60-mph-in-2-1-seconds>)

The Demon will be available from Dodge dealers in the fall.
