Sometimes, I feel like the middle-aged guy who always brings up his high school football days, but I'll mention again I used to have some very minimal welding skills. Working for a sports car manufacturer in my twenties afforded me training opportunities most people never get. Welding was just one of them. I started on industrial-grade machines and that's a big part of the reason it took me so long to realize I could get started way cheaper than I thought, and with deals like these, just about anyone with the interest and space can jump into welding. When I started at Shelby American, we were an all-Miller Welding shop. Then, one day a truck showed up packed full of Lincoln Electric machines, equipment, and swag. The "Old Man" had secured a big sponsorship deal, probably at a late-night poker game and we were suddenly a tour stop for Lincoln's PR people. Most of the welders on the list can run on a 110-volt outlet, but some require a 220-volt outlet for maximum output, so please keep in mind you may not be able to weld and dry your clothes at the same time.
