The only thing better than getting new EDC gear is getting a great deal on it. We’re in the New Year’s lull right now. Companies still can’t believe how much they discounted gear for the holidays and some of us are just starting to look at the holes in our bank accounts. Still, these New Years EDC deals are as tempting as ever.
I’ve mentioned before, I don’t really consider myself a “knife guy.” I reviewed a Coast knife and suddenly I’ve got a knife in my pocket or bag everyday. I’m regularly splitting my time between browsing financially-crippling-cheap-used-cars and cool knives. While I definitely can’t afford to own any German luxury car I can afford to buy, a whole collection of knives like this Coast DX625 Double-Lock Folder Knife for $14.99 is definitely a possibility. Likewise, I could combo it with a Coast Crew PX1 Flashlight for $24.99 and I’m at just 40 bucks. That won’t even buy me a set of plugs for a 20 year-old Audi A8.
I carry a lot more than a knife and a flashlight, usually. I have a bag with me quite often. Something like this Hide & Drink, Messenger Bag with Shoulder Strap for $65.49 is great for carrying everything. It’s all leather, has a vintage feel to it, and I’d like to think that it makes me look like I’m hunting for rare artifacts even if I’m just walking around the farmer’s market. Since I’m outside and working on stuff all the time, I need stuff that works in the weather and our when dirty. The Rite in the Rain All-Weather EDC Pen, Orange POKKA 2-Pack for $14.00 is awesome. So is the Weather and Grease Proof Notebooks for $24.84. Either will put up with whatever hiking, biking, or working on cars throws at them when I need to take notes.
There’s more stuff down there that’s equally as useful. Yes. Even a little something to keep electronics going in the field. I may be old-school and take notes on paper, but I’m not a complete luddite. Take a look, be prepared, and save a few bucks while you’re at it.
