It’s that time of year again when parents and students are excited about the start of a new school year. Well, I’m excited. My son, maybe not quite as much. If your kids are like mine, you can try to get some excitement going by picking out some school supplies and accessories that will announce their car-fandom to the entire world—or at least something that will make their lives easier. Todays back to school deals are in spirit of that.
When I was a kid, I would have stopped reading any sentence that started with those words but here we are. I never had a huge choice in backpacks. There were a few colors of Jansports and Eastpaks but it wasn’t a way to express your individuality. Luckily, students have an almost endless variety to choose from. Lightning McQueen is still one of the all-time great racing characters on the big screen. This Cars backpack with lunchbox and stickers for $29.99 is a good deal since you check off the backpack and lunchbox in one click. If you have a school-age F1 fan, there are tons of choices out there. For the Tiffosi, how about a PUMA Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 race backpack for $64.36. The silver arrow fans could choose the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 backpack for $106.13.
My son, middle-school-aged, did an astronomy camp at the University this summer. Walking around the campus with him, the same school I graduated from, one of the things I noticed was that walking is now for suckers. My son asked if they give you a scooter or e-bike when you sign up. As far as I know, they do not. Parking at the school sucked(and was expensive) when I went there. I can’t imagine what it’s like now with 50% more students. If you live off campus, an e-bike seems like a good solution. I’ve been eyeing this MOD BIKES Easy 3 for a while now. It’s currently $500 off during the back to school sale.
If you live on campus and you’re a car enthusiast, here’s a lifehack for you. If you become the goto person in your dorm for car trouble, you may never have to pay for pizza and beer during your undergrad years. Someone needs a jump? You got this with your NOCO Boost Plus 1000A jump-starter for a hundred bucks. But, it isn’t just a dead car batteries, stick it in your bag and you won’t have to worry about dead mobile phones or laptops either. For bigger jobs, keep a Craftsman mechanics tool set, Hank’s favorite, and one or two of these Powerbuilt bottle jack and stand combos under your dorm bunk. Good luck, and stay cool this year.
