Even though I’m a smartwatch convert, I’m goin’ old school. It’s been brought to my attention that some of you don’t want to wear a shrunken laptop on your wrist to tell time. As someone who uses 80-year-old technology every morning to make coffee and still uses paper and pencil, I can appreciate a love for analog watches. I would call them mechanical watches, but that’s a specific type of analog watch. Either way, I’ve rounded up some Amazon watch deals from Seiko and Citizen you don’t want to miss.

As I sit at my desk, I can get the time from either of two computer screens, my smartphone, a wall clock, or even my smart watch. In my car, I have the time in three different places—not including phones and watches. Very few people require a watch. What we choose to wear allows us to celebrate our love of machines or carry a reminder of a person or event. If we think about it, the working mechanism inside a wristwatch is a marvel of human ingenuity that most take for granted. I’ve now unintentionally set myself up for hours of self-reflection and meditation over whether or not I should be wearing a smartwatch.

I’m starting with Seiko. One of a handful of watch companies that is a complete vertically integrated watch maker. It designs, machines, and assembles products start to finish. If you want to dive into the simplicity of an automatic watch that keeps accurate time, day and date, then the 5 Sports with a stainless case for $215.00 is the ideal choice. It’s an automatic, meaning it winds itself using your movements. These Seikos are known for lasting decades if you take care of them. So a couple of hundred bucks for something you’ll have the rest of your life is pretty reasonable.

I like chronographs, watches with extra buttons and dials for the operation of stopwatches. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used the stopwatch feature on an analog watch in all my years of being at racetracks. I Just like the way they look. The Seiko SSC141 Chrono for $340.00 certainly looks the part and has car enthusiast written all over it. The SEIKO Automatic -Recraft Series for $200.00 looks like it fell off a Porsche 917 driver’s wrist at Le Mans. There’s a couple of contemporary Seikos down there too, including a dive watch.

Citizen, like Seiko, is another century-old brand, known for making lifetime watches. The Weekender Bryson Chronograph for $235.00 is a rugged watch classy enough for business casual. But it will add a little grown-upness to your weekend jeans and t-shirt. If you want something dressier for days in the office, grab this Citizen Two-Tone Watch for $97.95. It will look great peaking out of your shirt cuff. It’s under a hundred bucks right now, but it looks like it costs at least five times that. There’s a super cool black dial and green bezel down there. I’ve also thrown in a couple other classy all-stainless watches that are great deals.
