Who doesn’t love flashlights? The older I get, the more I appreciate having good light in my workspace. That’s because the cone-shaped photoreceptors in our eyes, the ones responsible for seeing color and fine detail, work better in bright light. Rods, on the other hand, are more adept in low light but aren’t as precise. Luckily, I’ve found all sorts of different work light and EDC flashlight deals to keep my cones and wallet happy in any setting.

Regular readers know I’ve been testing some Coast products recently. I recently had some hands-on time with the Coast KL35R Flashlight and 1919 Reserve Shift Knife and the the Slayer Flashlight. I love the combination of quality and value Coast consistently serves up. I have several more in line to be tested, but for now, let’s talk about what’s on sale. I’ll start with the XP18R, a flashlight that’s pretty big for EDC unless you have Duncan Macleod-size pockets to hold this 10-inch, 1-pound-plus light. It’s on sale for $69.99, which is 50 bucks off. It’s a rechargeable light with removable batteries, so you can substitute regular batteries in a pinch. It uses a slide focus and has four brightness modes from 130 to 4,900 lumens.

Ok, so maybe you need something that really is pocket-sized. The Coast Crew PX1 is 4.5 inches long and weighs about a quarter of a pound. It has two brightness modes, 125 or 565 lumens, and will go for 17 hours in the lower setting. Right now, it’s $24.99, marked down from $39.99. Lastly, from Coast is the versatile TXM50R work light. It works as a headlamp with the included band. But, you take it off the mount and it’s a pistol grip flashlight, and it’s magnetic so you can stick it under your hood or inside a fender. It’s $49.99 right now, which is 10 bucks off.

But, we aren’t all Coast in this post. Milwaukee has a 500-lumen rechargeable flashlight on sale for $49.97, or if you’re looking for a work light, the M18 powered Lantern, which is also a USB charger, is on sale for $69.00. I also added a couple of Mag-Lites to the list, and even a very traditional 2 C-cell Xenon light that’s only 18 bucks. There’s also a Fenix PD40R V2 that’s on sale for 120 bucks. This is an all-aluminum, 3,000-lumen light that’s currently $54 off the MSRP.
