Porsche Launches New Video Magazine Called “9:11”
Produced 5 times annually, this web tv program is 9 minutes and 11 seconds of technology, history, and Porsche
Porsche's new video series is something of a short television program looking at the world of Porsche. Each episode features dedicated segments focusing on one important aspect or another of the company and its exciting history. The program will only be published about every two months, but if these early episodes are any indication, it's well worth the wait. These are extremely well produced and gorgeously composed segments of a show, and some of them don't even require any spoken words at all to appreciate fully.
Episode 1 -
Take episode 1, for example. The show opens with a segment on Walter Rohrl and his phenomenal driving skills. This is an irrefutably great story, and you should definitely watch, if nothing else, that first segment. Then they move into a bit about exterior color combinations by showing some everyday objects they share color palettes with. It's mildly entertaining and luckily short enough to not become boring. The segment on the history of the transaxle era cars is another that works well. It's probably too short to really go into any details, but it's good enough that it might get pique your interest in learning more (if you want to know more, make sure you read the book 'Excellence Was Expected' by Karl Ludvigsen for all of the nitty gritty details). The final segment features a drive across the Scotish highlands in a new Panamera. It presents more as an ad for the car than anything else, but it sure is scenic.
Episode 2 -
The second episode in the series opens on an exposé featuring the wonderfully esoteric Dr. Erik Brandenburg. He might be the real-life most interesting man in the world. He's an oncologist in his daily life, but he also builds rallying 911s, races them all over the world, and in what little spare time is left, he plays around with falconry. The second segment, where we got our hero image, is a stop motion animation of a Porsche 911 engine being disassembled. It's been done before, but it's still very cool to watch. Segment three delves deep into the Porsche archives for a look at some things not many eyes get to see. The episode closes on a manic electronica trip through the Porsche museum's overflow storage. The phenomenal videography really makes this show what it is
