Everyone knows Porsche’s sports cars are fantastic, and their SUVs have been lauded for their on-road manners. Can they actually hold their own off-road too?

Porsche's Cayenne Turbo is a mega SUV that is super capable on the road, with impressive at-speed stability, acceleration on par with many sports cars, all the comfort you could ask for, and space for most anything you'd need to haul. Porsche is quite vocal about the Cayenne's speed and stability, but they don't talk much about its offroad prowess. I've taken a couple Cayennes and Macans off road in the past, and I've always been mighty impressed by the results. As you can see from this video, the Porsche is more than capable of tackling this facsimilie of an "off-road course". Sure, this is a mediocre course by most stretches, but it opens the action to conversation.

This truck comes with air suspension that can be lifted up to an impressive 10.7 inches of ground clearance with nearly 2-feet of wading depth. Porsche lists the approach angle at 25 degrees, the departure angle at 26.7 degrees, and the ramp-over angle at 25 degrees. Sure, those numbers aren't going to rival a Jeep Wrangler, but they compare decently to some competition from Land Rover or BMW. I'm sure most Cayenne buyers don't purchase them for off-road ability, but it's nice to know it's there if you need it.
