Despite conceding that it lost some sales to Tesla, Porsche Cars North America is reporting a new, all-time monthly sales record for the month of November. Last month, the iconic luxury marque sold a record-breaking 5,555 cars in the U.S. That's 0.8 percent more than the same month in 2016 and 2.5 percent more year-to-date.

While the Macan and Cayenne crossovers still make up the lion's share of Porsche sales (no surprises there), it's the sports cars that interestingly showed the most relative growth. Compared to November 2016, the company sold 40 percent more 911s and 14 percent more 718s last month, while Macan and Cayenne sales fell 5 and 15 percent, respectively.

"With 5,555 deliveries, we set a new all-time monthly record. In particular, our two-door sports cars—the Porsche 911, and the 718 model line—showed impressive double-digit growth versus last year," said PCNA CEO Klaus Zellmer.

As for the redesigned-for-2017 Panamera sedan, monthly sales stayed peculiarly close to last year's figure, but its year-to-date tally sits 43 percent higher than 2016, buoyed by strong sales earlier in the year. Porsche adds that 1,749 certified pre-owned cars were sold, 23 percent more than this month last year and 11 percent up year-to-date.
