EasyCare, a subsidiary of the Automobile Protection Corporation (APCO), is a leading provider of motor vehicle warranty services and benefits in both the United States and Canada. The company has been providing warranty services for over 30 years and has created a good reputation for itself, which is why they've been rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

EasyCare's parent company, ACPO holdings, prides itself in having the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Canada's largest single profession pension plan and one of the largest institutional investors in the world) as its majority stakeholder. Suffice to say that EasyCare knows the extended car warranty industry, and they offer multiple coverage options for vehicle owners of different budget ranges.

EasyCare Warranty Overview

With EasyCare's broad array of vehicle service options, consumers can either choose a plan that fits their needs or customize one to get the perfect fit.

EasyCare provides a wide variety of coverage choices for the personal and commercial market, from basic coverage options that focus on things like dent and body panel repair, to bumper-to-bumper warranties that cover nearly everything on the vehicle. Below are a few of EasyCare's most popular plans to give you a better understanding of what they offer.

  • Vehicle Service Contracts. EasyCare provides comprehensive vehicle service contracts with four varying levels of coverage. We discuss each below:
  1. TOTALCARE: This is the most comprehensive package. It is virtually like a bumper-to-bumper factory warranty, providing coverage for the whole vehicle.
  2. STATEDCARE: One step lower from TOTALCARE, this package covers all the essentials, including the electrical, suspension, and steering systems, as well as everything in the lower-tier plans.
  3. PRIMARYCARE: This plan covers most of the essential components, from the powertrain to the fuel and brake systems. The electrical, suspension, and steering systems, however, aren't included in the coverage.
  4. POWERCARE: This plan provides basic coverage for the powertrain, and is the most affordable among EasyCare's plans.
  • RV Coverage. RV owners can also get full, bumper-to-bumper coverage for their RVs through EasyCare. Similar to the vehicle service plans mentioned above, EasyCare's RV plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, choice of repair facility, and trip interruption coverage to cover your food, lodging, rental car reimbursement, or other expenses you might incur following an accident or breakdown.

Additionally, EasyCare also offers a variety of add-ons on top of the previously mentioned full coverage options. They include — but aren't limited to—  prepaid maintenance, theft protection, appearance protection, dent repair, key care, and more.

Warranty Costs

Given that EasyCare doesn't detail the cost of the various plans they offer, it will be difficult to give a precise breakdown of the costs, but what we know from our research is that costs can range from as low as $100/year to as high as $500/year, depending on the plan and add-ons that you choose. We've seen some dealers partnered with EasyCare offer EasyCare's most comprehensive contract for as low as $2,095 for 5 years’ worth of coverage. You can purchase a warranty plan directly by calling EasyCare or you can go through a dealer near you.

Things We Like

There is a lot to like about EasyCare's coverage options, and the best thing about this warranty provider is the huge variety of plans they offer. Indeed, EasyCare’s bevy of warranty plans will attract vehicle owners of every budget type. Whether you're someone who's after the most basic coverage or someone who wants every inch of their vehicle covered, EasyCare will have the perfect plan for you. What's more, you can also customize your plan with EasyCare's wide array of add-ons, such as roadside assistance, key replacement, windshield replacement, and more.

Another thing we liked about EasyCare is the fact they include many perks in some of its plans. You can get 24/7 roadside assistance and trip interruption coverage to cover your food, lodging, or towing expenses in the event of an accident or breakdown. Additionally, you can transfer your coverage to the next owner if you decide to sell your vehicle, increasing its value in the market.

EasyCare is also one of the few vehicle service contract providers that offers a variety of rideshare coverage plans to protect rideshare drivers from having to pay large out-of-pocket expenses in the event of an accident, making them one of the most comprehensive warranty providers in the market.

Of course, the fact that EasyCare has been in the business for more than 30 years and received an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau is another thing that we like, as it speaks volumes about their commitment to providing quality warranty services.

Feeling overwhelmed?

You aren't alone. Warranties have many benefits that aren't always clear. If you're new to the industry, check out our  Extended Warranty Guide  that helps explain some key fundamentals.

Things We Don't Like

Key details about EasyCare's plans are missing from their website, so it's not easy to get a precise breakdown of the costs. Information on coverage limitations based on a vehicle’s age is also conspicuously missing.

We hoped to be able to get more information about EasyCare's plans from their website, but it seems the only way to get an exact breakdown of the costs is by speaking to a dealer or by calling the EasyCare customer care center.

FAQs

Q. What does EasyCare warranty cover?

This will depend on the type of vehicle warranty contract you choose. EasyCare's most comprehensive plan, TOTALCARE, is basically comparable to a bumper-to-bumper factory warranty, and it covers every inch of the vehicle except for things like cosmetic damages and maintenance. EasyCare's most affordable plan, POWERCARE, covers crucial parts of the powertrain and is a great plan for older vehicles with decreased resale value. Apart from EasyCare's four kinds of vehicle service contracts are add-ons such as theft protection, trip interruption, key replacement, and more.

Q. How do I cancel my EasyCare warranty?

The process of canceling your extended warranty contract with EasyCare is easy and can be done anytime, but it may take up to five business days to take effect. You can cancel your contract by talking to the dealership that sold you the plan, or the broker if you didn't get the plan from a dealership.

EasyCare Customer Reviews

Is EasyCare the right warranty provider for your money? Before making a decision, it’s always good to find out what others have said about their experience with EasyCare.

“Excellent service, we wouldn't go without this coverage! We have had a couple of costly repairs and this has paid for itself.” - Wendy M. via ConsumerAdvocate

“I travel a lot for work, 50k miles a year. When I bought my 2017 Subaru Legacy from Cochran Subaru in Monroeville, Pa an Easy Care 150k bumper to bumper was offered and I invested in it. About 140k miles in my transmission started acting up. I took it in and they gave me a loaner. In a little over a week, my Subaru got a brand new transmission, saving me $6,500! Needless to say, I'm a huge believer in extended warranties and Easy Care and will get it again on my next Subaru that I buy next year. Thank you Easy Care and Cochran Subaru service!!” Juan D. via ConsumerAdvocate

“I have dealt with Easy Care since 1994 (10 years after inception) as a car dealer finance director, I will NOT buy a vehicle without this coverage, neither will my friends and family. Yes, they do not cover hoses, things breaking down (not yet failed), maint. items, but they are BY FAR the BEST coverage on the market!!! They pay full retail to a certified repair shop, they pay by credit card so the payment in instant, the complaints that I read about the roadside assistance, that is not Easy Care that is a company that sublets the RSA. Make sure and ask for the Total Care contract, others are less coverage and do not cover as comprehensively. If you never have a claim and feel you "wasted" money, feel fortunate that you haven't had $16,000 in repairs as I have seen on ONE vehicle!!! I am on my 4th service contract for our 2008 Silverado, only used it twice for the same issue that reoccurred into the 3rd contract. But I am not complaining, I would rather have the peace of mind that I am not going to have a $5,000 transmission repair or $8,000 engine replacement! Thank you Easy Care, I appreciate the millions of dollars that you have covered since 1984.” - Kelly G. via ConsumerAdvocate

“They are your typical warranty company, make all the promises to get you to buy their product. Then when you actually have an issue and go to get them to cover it they reply with "oh that's not covered under the warranty". Owned my camper for less than 1 year and they didn't cover anything that I had issues with, they even tried to say that I tore the awning cover and that is why they weren't going to cover it. Right, I climbed up my camper just to rip my slide cover which has only been used 3 times since I bought the RV. These guys are a total waste of time and money, save your money and demand better!!!!” - Willy W. via BBB

Is a Warranty plan from EasyCare Worth It?

Ultimately, the question of whether a car extended warranty is really worth it is up to you to decide. But we definitely feel that an EasyCare warranty will be worth the money, especially since they have a wide range of product offerings that fit every budget type. Like we already mentioned, EasyCare has been in the business for more than 30 years. They have a good reputation for being both easy to deal with and for having a fast turnaround time. If you're in the market for an extended warranty plan, we recommend that you check them out.
