According to [pulsenews.co.kr](<https://pulsenews.co.kr/view.php?year=2017&no=206558>), Kia's debutant sports sedan, the Stinger GT, will start at $26,930 in its home market of South Korea. There will also be an upscale, high-performance model, available for the equivalent of $36,000.

These two respective models are likely powered by the 2.0-liter turbo four and the 3.3-liter turbo V6. Both will transmit power through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and put power down either through the rear wheels or all four tires. Whether or not the Stinger will retain these prices after import tariffs, however, remains uncertain.

In its domestic market, the Stinger GT will not be sold under a new, as-yet-unnamed marque instead of the Kia badge. Export models, however, will display the Kia badge.

Kia had better be sure the Stinger undercuts the competition's prices, though that ought not to be too hard. The BMW M2 starts at $52,500, so even if import taxes are brought into play, the Stinger GT should still compare nicely against the Bimmer. Even if it doesn't beat the M2's driving experience, it may not need to if the lower price allows more of us common folk to afford one.
