# Drive Wire for November 7, 2016: Kurdish Man Uses His Bulletproof BMW to Save Dozens from ISIS Attack

Hey there. Will Sabel Courtney here for Drive Wire on November 7th, 2016.

Today on Drive Wire: [A Kurdish Pershmerga fighter used his armored BMW to save dozens of Iraqis from ISIS](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/5878/bulletproof-bmw-used-to-rescue-dozens-during-isis-attack>) during an attack on the city of Kirkuk last month.

Over several days, Ako Rahman reportedly carried a total of 70 injured people out of the line of fire and to the hospital. Rahman told a Kurdish news outlet that his armored 1990s-era BMW 5 Series was struck by ISIS sniper fire 50 or 60 times over the course of his daring rescues.

As a reward for his bravery, BMW reportedly offered Rahman a brand-new Bimmer in exchange for the ravaged sedan. Rahman, however, reportedly turned down the offer. Instead, he reportedly will give the car to a local museum.
