Today on Drive Wire, *The Drive* discusses the news that more than half a million drones have been registered with the Federal Aviation Administration since the U.S. government created a system to do so. According to Earl Lawrence, the FAA's director in charge of safely integrating unmanned flying machines into the nation's airspace, [around 550,000 drones have been registered in the last nine months](<https://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/drones/a22912/future-millions-drones/>)—around 2,000 every week. The numbers are so high, the FAA has begun considering a future where millions of unmanned aerial vehicles could dot American skies.
