# Drive Wire for August 29th, 2016: Tesla May Add New Safety Features to Autopilot

Today on Drive Wire, *The Drive* discusses a new report that [Tesla could make it harder for Autopilot users to abuse](<https://electrek.co/2016/08/28/tesla-autopilot-safety-restrictions-v8-0-accidents/>) the semi-autonomous self driving system. According to *Elektrek*, the forthcoming update to the system, called Autopilot 8.0, will include a new safety feature that will force users to pull over and park the car before reengaging Autopilot if the system determines the driver isn't paying close enough attention.
