On today's installment of *Drive Wire*, *The Drive* discusses a new report claiming that [Jaguar may take on Tesla with two electric cars](<https://www.automobilemag.com/news/xk-replacement-c-x75-supercar-programs-axed/>)—a sleek battery-powered sedan and a bold electric SUV that would square off nicely against [Elon Musk's Model S](<https://www.thedrive.com/tech/4591/the-war-for-autonomous-driving-2017-mercedes-benz-e-class-vs-2017-tesla-model-s>) and [Model X](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/2875/why-the-tesla-model-x-will-make-you-want-an-american-suv>). According to *Automobile*, instead of continuing to try and take on the big guns of the traditional automotive luxury world, Jaguar might replace [the XJ sedan](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/4600/jaguar-xj-r-sport-quick-review>) with an electrically-powered four-door coupe, then supplement [the F-Pace SUV](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/3081/jaguar-has-amazing-plans-for-the-f-pace>) with a similarly-powered sport-ute. Unfortunately, JLR's reported decision to go after Elon Musk and his tech-laden luxury cars may be coming at a cost—one that would be especially painful for gear heads. But you'll have to watch the video to find out what that cost would be.
