# Drive Wire for July 25, 2016: GM to ‘Step Back’ on New Technologies, Including Autonomy

On today's installment of Drive Wire, we look at the announcement from General Motors CEO Mary Barra, who announced at a cybersecurity conference in Detroit this weekend that the brand will ["step back" and reevaluate autonomous technology](<https://www.thedrive.com/tech/4555/tesla-autopilot-controversy-could-delay-gms-supercruise-system>). GM's highly anticipated Super Cruise system, originally slated to come to market by the end of this year featured in the [Cadillac CT6 flagship sedan](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/1846/the-cadillac-ct6-is-the-miata-of-flagship-sedans>), will be part of that re-look in the wake of the controversy surrounding the May 9th fatality involving the Tesla Autopilot system.
