# Faster Movie to Detail Life of Rene Dreyfus

Recent car-related [movies](<https://www.thedrive.com/article/12313/top-10-car-movies-of-all-time>) have been geared toward mainstream audiences—cue crime-oriented [*Baby Driver*](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/11739/baby-driver-star-ansel-elgort-kept-an-old-subaru-wrx-used-in-filming>) and children’s film *Cars 3*. The latest auto-focused movie, *Faster*, will cater to car history and racecar enthusiasts.

The film will detail the life of the late French [race car driver](<https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/1048/is-a-j-foyt-the-greatest-race-car-driver-of-all-time>), Rene Dreyfus.

Dreyfus won several Grands Prix in France in the 1930s, and raced in Italian cars like Bugattis and Maseratis. In the late 30s, he drove French models like Talbots and the Delahayes, which demonstrated his versatility as a driver and pride for his country.

Dreyfus was no doubt a successful pioneer of the race car-driving industry.

The movie will be based on Neal Bascomb’s book of the same title, which is set to come out in March 2019.

Bascomb holds degrees from Ohio’s Miami University in economics and literature.

He's also written three books that made it to *The*

 *New York Times* Bestsellers List: *The New Cool*, *One More Step: My Story of Living with Cerebral Palsy*, and *Hunting Eichmann*. *Faster* will be Bascomb’s fourth book adapted into a movie.

Santa Monica-based entertainment company Imperative Entertainment will create the film along with Bascomb’s help. The company focuses on literary film adaptations, its most recent being *Hot Summer Nights*, starring Timothée Chalamet and *The Square*, starring Elisabeth Moss. *Heroes* creator Tim Kring, tenured producer Bradley Thomas, Blacklight CEO Zak Kadison, and businessman Dan Friedkin founded Imperative in 2014.
