# Audi R8 V10 Plus Spyder to Make a Public Appearance During Monterey Car Week

The Audi [R8 V10 Plus](<https://www.thedrive.com/video/3100/a-terrifying-lap-in-the-audi-r8-v10-plus>) is more like its [Lamborghini Huracan](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/11282/lamborghini-has-produced-over-8000-huracans-in-3-years>) cousin than ever before with more than 600 horses at bay and it being only about $24,000 cheaper than its Italian counterpart. When Audi unveiled the [Spyder](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/11503/audi-r8-spyder-v10-plus-is-610-horsepower-of-drop-top-supercar-sweetness>) variant in June, fans went crazy over the Green Lantern-esque paint job and insane performance figures. The new V10 Plus Spyder does 0-60 MPH in 3.3 seconds, making it Audi's quickest convertible and one of the fastest non-hypercar roadsters in production.

Audi USA announced that the [2018 R8 V10 Plus Spyder](<https://media.audiusa.com/en-us/releases/179>) will be showcased on American soil for the first time on Friday, August 18 during [Monterey Car Week](<https://www.thedrive.com/polizei144/5133/when-oceans-11-met-pebble-beach-how-to-steal-10m-of-cars-during-monterey-car-week-part-1>). Fans can catch the new Audi at [*The Quail, A Motorsports Gatherin**g*](<https://signatureevents.peninsula.com/en/Motorsports/Motorsports.html>)*,* an annual showcase of insanely rare cars in Carmel, California. It will sit on display alongside the famous [Audi Sport Quattro S1](<https://www.thedrive.com/watch-this/8961/this-audi-quattro-s1-clone-proves-rally-filled-dreams-can-come-true>) rally car, R8 LMS GT3, and [2018 Audi RS 5](<https://signatureevents.peninsula.com/en/Motorsports/Motorsports.html>).

The new R8 certainly belongs here, as it has motorsport at its core—the Spyder shares many of its parts with the [R8 LMS](<https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/477/calling-mom-from-a-lamborghini-aventador-sv>) race car, including its 5.2-liter V-10.
