Watch This Guy Shoot Skeet From His Porsche 911
A high-powered shotgun and a classic Porsche 911 Targa? Yes please.
The Drive is no stranger to driving and shooting things. So we were happy to watch marksman Philip Thorrold shoot clay pigeons from a Porsche 911. In his lates video, Thorrold uses a smoked out Targa to barrel down the backroads of a sprawling estate—presumably somewhere in England.
The video opens with Thorrold meticulously cleaning his over/under shotgun as the Targa’s flat-six sparks to life with that throaty roar. A camera catches the open bonnet of the 911 and we glimpse a pigeon launch mechanism bolted inside. The 911 revs to 5,200 rpm. Game on.
The Targa tears around the estate, drifting through groves of ornamental trees and zipping down a garden path. All the while, Thorrold snipes at clay pigeons shot into the air from the front of the fast moving air-cooled Porsche.
Eventually, the two legends—that is, the Targa and Mr. Thorrold—meet. The Porsche pulls up, Thorrold hops in, and the GoPros whir. The Targa flies down a narrow country road, Thorrold tracks targets, the Targa’s tight suspension shakes his body. Yet, Thorrold never misses a shot. It’s a lovely dance number.
This isn’t the first time Thorrold produced a video that combined high-powered weaponry and iconic sports cars. In October, Thorrold posted a video of him riding shotgun (nailed it) in a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta and picking off clay pigeons as the Italian stallion does a series of donuts on an empty country road. What does Thorrold has in store for us next? We don’t know, but we hope it involves something in the Lamborghini family.
