Hey, you. What are you doing right now? Actually, don't answer that, because it doesn't matter. Stop doing it, whatever it is. Stop it, and start watching [this live stream of Ultra4 Racing's King of the Hammers](<https://www.ultra4racing.com/LIVE>).

The 2017 Nitto King of the Hammers Power By Optima Batteries, as it's formally known, is a competition that fuses rock crawling and desert racing with a sticky mortar of derring-do. Every February, competitors meet up on California's Means Dry Lake bed to battle one another in off-road machines that make those vehicles from *Mad Max: Fury Road* look like Little Tykes Kozy Coupes in comparison. The customized all-terrain speed machines scramble over boulders, crawl up hillsides, and blast across the desert, sometimes traveling at eye-popping speeds in places most of us would be afraid to ride a mountain bike.

To put it simply: It's awesome.

So stop whatever you're doing—and yes, that includes reading this story—and [click on this link to go to the livestream of the 2017 King of the Hammers](<https://livestream.com/ULTRA4/events/6905924>) right this damn second. You won't regret it.
