No matter the shape, no matter the make, no matter the era, *The Drive* and [Classic Car Club](<https://classiccarclubmanhattan.com/>) have a love affair with the automobile. Somewhere under those steel roofs and carbon engine covers, there’s a personality. It might be that of a champion, or perhaps, more like your recovering alcoholic Uncle Eddie. But it’s undeniably there.

And thus, the birth of this photographic column. These are snippets, little insights into the life of a car and, more importantly, those of the people who own them. There will be no rolling prose, no feature-length interview. Just an automobile and its owner, as seen through the lens of Finnish phenom [Tuukka Koski](<https://www.tuukkakoski.com/>).

“You don’t see too many 3-door G Wagens around. Often times I park on the street, I come back to find a note on the windshield from a stranger saying they would like to buy it.”

“For NYC parking there are a lot more small spaces available than large. This makes parking my 3-door G Wagen a much easier task. I like that the design comes from its utility. It was originally a military vehicle. Unlike any other car I can think of, the glass is all flat. This way, if they were blown out in battle, they can be replaced with a sheet of steel or wood. It keeps that tradition alive, but still fits into urban environments perfectly.”

“Over the years I have collected a few cars, but this is my New York City daily driver. I take it to the beach, I take it surfing, I go off-road in it and I tackle the cobblestones of TriBeCa. It hauls all my stuff. It’s the biggest suitcase I’ve ever owned.”
