Thrustmaser is celebrating Ferrari's 70th anniversary with the launch of some exceptional racing wheels this year to commemorate the Pracing Horse's legendary prowess. The first is a limited edition replica of the iconic and timeless Ferrari 250 GTO steering wheel - even more beautiful 55 years later.

Driving classic cars (and supercars) on our gaming consoles is a great escape for us car enthusiasts. It's our chance to drive some of our favorite cars and some of our dreams cars too. With the advanced of technology, gaming has become more immersive and realistic, and therefore more enjoyable. That all goes down the drain a little when we look down at our small, plastic controller and realize that it is just a game. To alleviate some of that disappointment, companies have put out products full systems that incorporate more real-life seeming pedals and steering wheels. Thrustmaster has just gone one step further with its officially licensed wheel add-on from the beloved Ferrari 250 GTO. Thrustmaster's press release described the 250 GTO as "one of the most legendary cars ever created, and three-time consecutive GT world champion from 1962 through 1964."

This gaming wheel is actually made from genuine wood and boasts a metal faceplate that has an authentic chrome Ferrari emblem at its center. It is an official Ferrari-licensed 8:10 scale replica with a diameter of 13 inches (33cm) and 11 in (28cm) thick. The wheel has a metal faceplate and internal structure,

"All of these carefully-reproduced details transport the user right back to the 1960s," states Thrustmater. "One only needs to test out the Ferrari 250 GTO in the game Assetto Corsa (available as part of the Ferrari 70th Anniversary DLC Pack), for example, to find oneself fully immersed in real vintage car racing sensations, with their inimitable panache."

The replica wheels comes packed in a collector's gift box with hot-stamped inner foam display. This product may not be the real thing, but is just as unique as the limited edition car. If you recall, there were only 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs manufactured between 1962 and 1964. Only a limited number of these gaming wheels will be produced too, to pay homage to the rarity of the car itself.

Thrustmaster's official website reports that the Ferrari 250 GTO wheel add-on will be available from December 20, 2017 at a suggested retail price USD $399.99 (taxes excluded). The holidays are coming; you know what to put on your wish list.
