2017-2018 BMW M760Li xDrive Recalled Over Oil Leak
Engine oil is at risk of leaking onto the front brake disks.
In a post from BMWBlog, the German automaker is recalling 2017 and 2018 models of the M760Li xDrive full-size executive sedan over a possible oil leak. BMW North America says a total of 97 examples of its top-dog luxury car have been affected: "The recalled vehicles have engine oil cooler lines that may loosen causing an oil leak in the engine compartment."
Most critically, the leaking oil is reportedly susceptible to getting onto the front brake disks—something we have recently learned is not a very good thing. Specifically, it would "lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash." The 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine in question is related to the ones found in the BMW-owned Rolls-Royce Ghost, Wraith, and Dawn; no engine-related recalls have been issued for the Rolls-Royces at this time.
