Chrysler 300 Among 2018 Edmunds Most Wanted Vehicles
The 2018 Chrysler 300 won the Edmunds Most Wanted award in the large car segment.
When the Chrysler 300 was reborn in the early 2000s, it was a smash hit. The big-bodied design with available Hemi V8 was a throwback to the days of American muscle. That’s before it started showing up in music videos.
The latest Chrysler 300 was just named a 2018 Edmunds Most Wanted Vehicle. The 2018 iteration took home the honor in the Large Car segment. The award honors the most in-demand vehicles based on sales, days-to-turn and shopper interest data on Edmunds. Edmunds offers up the award in 17 different segments. For each segment, the company uses its website activity to determine the victors, along with sales info from dealers.
“Bold and aggressive, the Chrysler 300 stands out in a class of largely look-alike sedans, and its originality makes it one of the most popular large cars on the market,” said Jessica Caldwell, Executive Director of Industry Analysis for Edmunds.
Edmunds applauded Chrysler’s all-wheel-drive system. The system in the 300 was the segment’s most technologically-advanced and it was the only car that offered a transfer case and a front-axle-disconnect system to improve fuel economy and seamless transitions between AWD and RWD modes.
Edmunds was also impressed with the Uconnect 4 infotainment system which includes Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. These features are all available in the V6 powered 300 Touring model. The 300 is available in a number of trims made to mirror the trim lineup in the Pacifica.
For those seeking a little extra punch, the 300C comes with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 363 horsepower. The V6 with its TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission gets up to 30 miles per gallon for the more fuel economy minded individuals.
No word yet on how many shoppers were looking at 300s so they could put Rolls Royce grilles on them and fool the untrained eye.
