We are completely delighted to see the KTM 790 Adventure R Prototype officially unveiled at EICMA but consumers will have to wait beyond 2019 until there is a production-ready version.

The KTM 790 Adventure R has been on the horizon for some time with countless spy photos floating around the internet and with the announcement of the 790 Duke earlier this week, we will see the very same LC8c engine beat at the core of the 790 Adventure R.

The adventure community has waited patiently for a lightweight, compact midrange travel enduro with outstanding cross-country ability and KTM will eventually deliver. Sadly, that day will not be today.

When a full production version hits our shores we can expect the KTM 790 Adventure R to fully embrace the Austrian company’s READY TO RACE philosophy. The prototype features a high dashboard tower, single seat, tiny LED lights and low-slung fuel tanks. It draws inspiration heavily from the KTM Rally machines that dominate competition the world over.

The newly developed LC8c powerplant is expected to punch hard from inside its lightweight and extremely rugged chassis. We will no doubt see a much different fuel tune and gearing than the 790 Duke so that the Adventure can maximize torque and power delivery at low speeds.

The 790 Adventure R will also come complete with top-quality WP Suspension components front and rear and the very best electronic rider assistance package.
