The Mazda MX-5 Miata is beloved both in the racing community as well as for the weekend enthusiast driver. Thanks to its affordable price, sporty design, and agile handling, the Miata is a perfect way to slide into the motorsports world without going broke or looking ridiculous.

Mazda offers a track-only removable hardtop for the race community, originally priced at $4,420 for the redesigned Miata. Understandably, many racers were upset with the costly part, so Mazda quickly worked to reduce the cost. Now, teams can purchase a track-only removable hardtop for $3,085.00—30 percent cheaper than the original price. (Unfortunately, though, this does not translate to any aftermarket parts for street Miatas, just the MX-5 Cup.)

“Thanks to hard work by our engineers and vendors, we are happy to announce a reduced price for the MX-5 Cup’s available hardtop, providing customers an even greater value for what is already one of the best bangs for the buck in motorsports today,” said David Cook, business development manager, Mazda Motorsports.

The Mazda MX-5 is currently the most raced vehicle in the U.S. outnumbering all other cars on the track.
