EPA Confirms Tesla Model S 100D’s 335-Mile Range
That makes it the longest-range EV currently on the market.
According to new figures released by the EPA earlier today, the Tesla Model S 100D's range of 335 miles makes it the longest-range electric vehicle on sale today. Tesla has boasted impressive range numbers even since its inception, but now the American EV maker is officially king of the hill, beating out the likes of GM, Nissan, BMW, and Hyundai.
Electrek reports that the range breakdown is as follows:
- City range: 331.1 miles (532.8 km)
- Highway range: 337.2 miles (542.6 km)
- Combined range: 335 miles (539.1 km)
While every new car sold in the U.S. is required to have an EPA fuel economy sticker, a source at the EPA told Electrek that the EPA themselves did not actually conduct the confirmatory range testing and instead relied on Tesla's own tests. Whether or not there would be any discrepancy in results between the two tests is purely speculative, but some Model S 100D owners report that the 335-mile range is accurate.
