McLaren has just announced that it has officially started production of its newest Super Series car that replaces the outgoing 650S: the 720S. The first 720S to roll off the production lane, aptly named "Job #1" and finished in McLaren's Glacier White paint.

Remarking on the new production of the 720S, Mike Flewitt, CEO at McLaren Automotive, said, "The new McLaren 720S entering volume production is a momentous occasion for McLaren Automotive, marking the first time since the company was formed in 2010 that we have replaced a model family with an all-new generation."

Flewitt added, "Customer interest in the new McLaren 720S following its unveiling in March at the Geneva International Motor Show has significantly exceeded our expectations and we are bidding farewell to the first-generation Super Series in the knowledge that we have a successor that raises limits in the supercar segment to new heights."

To remind you, the 720S packs an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that creates, you guessed it, 720 metric ponies. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels, the 720S climbs from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds.
