Watch This Ludicrous Plus Tesla Model S P100D Set a World Record

Just this weekend, a Tesla Model S P100D set a quarter-mile world record for the fastest stock four-door sedan, according to the Internet video racing masters at DragTimes. With the recently revealed Ludicrous Plus upgrade, this stock example was able to cross the quarter mile mark a brisk 10.72 seconds after it launched.

The video, recorded by YouTube channel DragTimes, points out that three P100Ds went to drag strip that night, ready to eviscerate its opponents, but it was only one that got in the 10.7-second range. Of course, that's an enormous feat—Teslas aren't even designed to be drag strip monsters, but they, time and again, perform beautifully in that arena—though it still comes a little shy of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's performance claims on Twitter. That said, the host of DragTimes mentioned he got his car to hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.4 seconds, which is right in line with Musk's bold claims.

With its instant torque and impressive off-the-line all-wheel drive grip, Teslas truly do make the case that gear-heads don't have anything to worry about when it comes to achieving speed in the electrified future.
