Remember that one-of-a-kind LaFerrari that Ferrari announced it would be auctioning off to benefit earthquake-ravaged central Italy? Well, the Ferraristas at the Finali Mondiali in Florida lived up to their big-spending reputation; the one-off LaFerrari wound up selling for a whopping $7 million.

That figure is roughly five times the original asking price for a new Ferrari LaFerrari, and almost $2 million more than the previous high-water mark for a LaFerrari sold at auction. It’s also enough to make this LaFerrari the most expensive car made in this century to ever sell at auction, according to a press release issued by RM Sotheby’s.

According to the auction house, which threw the special auction as a favor to Ferrari and the National Italian American Foundation’s Earthquake Relief Fund, the bidding bounced back and forth for a full 10 minutes before the hammer fell. The car’s new owner wasn’t mentioned by either Ferrari or RM Sotheby’s, but according to one of the members of the well-informed site FerrariChat, the supercar—which is clad in a special red-and-black livery with an Italian flag motif and white stripes, and boasts a unique plaque—was ultimately sold to a buyer bidding via telephone.

In addition to the special supercar, Ferrari also auctioned off a pair of Scuderia Ferrari F1 racing suits autographed by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. Those two items sold for a total of $36,000, which doesn’t seem like all that much to us. Then again, we’ve just spent the last hour thinking about a new car that sold for $7 million.
