When it arrives on the streets, the Bugatti Chiron will be one of the most exclusive, powerful, and fastest supercars on the market. But according to Bugatti themselves, this 1,479-horsepower hypercar is also great for "everyday usability." How did it figure this out? By driving through more than 20,000 miles of American desert in the heat of summer.

Bugatti spent four and a half weeks testing the Chiron in some of the most obscene hot weather conditions, traveling more than 21,700 miles in the process. And luckily for us, the carmaker has released a video of the test showcasing the beauty of both the American Southwest and the automaker's obscenely expensive supercars.

Bugatti's test route took started in Los Angeles before traveling north through California's Central Valley, east to Yosemite and then on to one of the hottest places on earth: Death Valley. Death Valley has an average high above 100 degrees for a staggering five months each year, with a peak average high of 116 degrees in July; the carmaker claims it reported temperatures of up to 125 degrees during its tests. From there, the supercar tackled the Las Vegas strip, the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, and the climb to Monument Valley, Utah, before finishing the trip in Denver, Colorado.

Bugatti says they did this to make sure the Chiron was not only the most powerful car on the market today, but also built to the absolute highest standards. It tested 30 different cars during the quality control process, including the four used for the desert trek—all in order to prove the Chiron could be used every day, in even the harshest of conditions.

And hey, for more than $2.5 million, this desert-tested daily driver could be yours too.
