Aston Martin’s AM-RB 001 hypercar may be the headline attraction for Gaydon’s PR team these days, but here at The Drive, we’re more excited to drive a different Aston: the upcoming Vantage with its AMG V8, which was caught near the Nurburgring a few days ago by Autoevolution's shooters—wearing less camouflage than we’ve seen yet.

Admittedly, part of that comes from the fact that even most of us here will never have a chance to lay a hand on the automotive ticket to crazytown that is the Aston Martin/Red Bull hypercar. We have much better chances of climbing behind the wheel of the new V8 Vantage, though, considering it will be Aston’s entry-level model. It will also be our only chance to experience the majesty of AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with the pure snikt-snikt action of a traditional manual gearbox.

As if an AMG eight-pot connected to a stick shift weren’t reason enough to lust for the Aston Martin Vantage over its hyped-up brother, this spy footage proves that the new V8 model will be a looker in the traditional Aston sense. The car seen in the clip boasts many of the traditional sports car cues that make Aston design the envy of the automotive world: the broad, high hips, the wide-mouth grille, the long hood that pushes the cabin back to near.

The reduced camo gives us a better look at the front end of the new Vantage, revealing a fascia that shares elements with both the new DB11 and the DB10 concept car Aston whipped up for James Bond in Spectre...and somehow manages to look better than either of them.

And while we could have learned all that from spy photos...it takes a video to reveal that sweet, sweet AMG burble emanating from those tailpipes.
