When it comes to a Range Rover, most people think of luxury SUVs with the heart of a British military vehicle. Capable of scaling a wall and then going to a swanky dinner at the country club, Land Rover's high-end brand has done a fantastic job of combining disparate demographics without compromising functionality.

That being said, it was easy to be apprehensive about the off-road capability of the performance-prepped Range Rover SVR when it first debuted. A Range Rover designed for the track, the thinking went, couldn't be all that effective on unpaved surfaces, right?

Not so. So to keep people from worrying that the SVR is anything less than a true Land Rover, the company has released a video showing its fastest Range Rover launching from 0-100 kilometers per hour...which is just a hair above the 0-60 mph test we in the U.S. hold so dear.

Traveling to six specific locations throughout Europe, Land Rover tested the SVR's acceleration capability on asphalt, grass, gravel, snow, mud and sand. The massive 21-inch wheels were wrapped in Michelin 275/45/21 all-season tires during each test, and the SVR utilized Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 technology to navigate the varying surfaces.

When the Terrain Response's dynamic mode was engaged and the SUV was on pavement, the Range Rover SVR was able to hit 62 mph in a speedy 4.7 seconds. (Unsurprisingly, this was the fastest time the Range Rover SVR achieved during the testing.) When on grass, the SVR utilized the grass, gravel and snow mode and hit 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. The SVR then proceeded to hit 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds on gravel. After venturing over to sand, the Terrain Response 2 allowed the SVR to hit 62 mph in 6.5 seconds. Even on the slippery mess that is snow, the Range Rover Sport SVR was able to hit 62 mph in 11.3 seconds— an impressive pace for such conditions.

But it's one thing to hear us tell you—it's another thing altogether to watch it. So check out the video below for yourself.
