This Badass Custom Dodge Challenger Is Headed to SEMA

We don’t know much about it yet. But we sure want to.

Every year, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles whips up a slew of customized cars for the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show in Las Vegas, with the aim of showing off its designers’ creativity...and the depths of the extensive Mopar aftermarket parts catalog. Regardless of the reasons behind their genesis, the resulting creations tend to be the sort of vehicles that remind us how cool custom cars can be. And based on this image FCA released of its SEMA-bound customized Dodge Challenger SRT, 2016 should be no exception.

The teaser is right in line with FCA’s traditional modus operandi, in which the carmaker offers shadowy close-up illustrations of its sweet one-offs before revealing them in all their glory. (See: Jeep Wrangler Trailcat; every previous SEMA and Easter Safari concept.)

The image doesn’t reveal much, other than a snazzy set of racing stripes and a Shaker hood, but we can infer a little more than that. Based on the writing on that air intake, it seems likely this Challenger will come packing SRT’s naturally-aspirated 6.4-liter V8, not the beloved Hellcat engine. And based on the off-centered racing stripe, we can assume that this Challenger’s paint job wasn’t designed by someone with OCD. Regardless—given the outrageous all-wheel-drive widebody Challenger Dodge brought to the show last year, we have high hopes for this year’s Mopar muscle car.

In addition to the shot of the Challenger, FCA is offering up sneak peeks of four other custom vehicles it’s bringing to SEMA, including a Wrangler seemingly called the CJ-Sixty Six, wearing sexy bronze paint and a louvered hood...

...a Dodge Durango that will be...blue, apparently…

...a Chrysler Pacifica with seemingly surf-inspired graphics…

...and a Ram Power Wagon that channels the entire 1980s into one massive hoop spoiler.
