Rolls-Royce’s new president, more Dieselgate fallout from F1 and Audi, wireless earbuds, and stacked Porsches.

Hey guys, it’s Christina Thompson, and this is Drive Wire for Tuesday, September 29.
Big news from the super luxury world, Rolls-Royce has named Pedro Mota its new North American Regional President. Mota replaces Eric Shepherd, who is stepping down to pursue, as Rolls-Royce put it, personal business opportunities within the Rolls-Royce community. Mota was previously Western Region Vice President for Porsche North America.
VW’s Dieselgate has extended all the way to Formula One. Red Bull Racing which can’t seem to catch a break this racing season, was brokering an agreement in which VW would be its new engine supplier. Then the emissions scandal broke last week and now the deal has gone up in a cloud of diesel smoke. Red Bull’s seemingly hollow threats to leave Formula One are now sounding more realistic than ever.
More Dieselgate fallout! Audi admitted Monday morning that more than 2 million of its cars were programmed to cheat emissions tests. Only 13,000 cars in the U.S. are affected since the A3 is Audi’s only four-cylinder diesel sold in the States.
For those who like music with their fall colors, behold Pugz Wireless Earbuds. These Bluetooth-connected earphones will be the first to play and charge from your smartphone at the same time, so the concert doesn’t stop after the four-and-a-half-hour battery finally gives out. Pugz has already raised 15 times the amount they needed on Kickstarter, so expect to see these in a set of ears near you in November.
Today’s ridiculous video has Porsches! A classically well-balanced car indeed, as proven in this video. They’re stacking ‘em deep, in the GT race at Navarra. Two GT3 cup drivers wound up all over each other in the opening lap. No word on how their positions were officially scored, but I’m sure even a Russian judge would score this gymnastic maneuver in the high nines.
