This guy, who’s staying the course. That’d be the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, which commemorates England’s motoring independence, gained on November 14, 1896: the day the country’s draconian 4 mph speed limits were repealed. Each year, a bunch of loonies drive pre-1905 automobiles on a 60-mile “Emancipation Run” to celebrate. Problem: It’s England. In November. Not that pissing rain and frigid cold will stop these chaps, though. They’re doing work in a 10-hp buggy, and loving every minute. Hero.
